About Me
I am a quilter, a chemist, a veteran, a piano player, and a ravenous reader. I always try to find the most efficient way to do anything -- everyone's time is precious!
I have been quilting since 2005. After doing a few initial quilts, I realized that gaining the coordination and physical strength to quilt large quilts on a domestic machine is very difficult! I also found out that quilting the quilt was more fun for me that piecing the quilt. As a somewhat geeky / computer-type person, I discovered the values of computer/robot quilting for its accuracy and flexibility in doing a whole quilt design. That, with classes in free motion and free hand quilting, started me on the road to setting up a longarm quilting business.
I own, and am a sales representative for, an ABM International Innova machine with robotic AutoPilot system, which is a 26" industrial longarm with stitch regulation. The Innova is a relatively new machine to the home market; the company introduced it about three years ago, but has been making commercial quilting machines since the early 1900s. As a result, the Innova has a number of features that make it more robust and provides superior quilting than other machines on the market. Contact me for more information on how you can own an Innova system!
My focus is to be continually learning and improving my skills in quilting design and execution. I attend local and national conventions and classes: Innovations 2008, MQS 2009, the Denver quilt shows, etc. I focus on attending classes by the top instructors: Sue Patten, Linda Taylor, Dawn Cavanaugh, Pam Clarke, and Sally Terry, for example, to continually come up with new quilting ideas and finishing techniques.
I always like to look for new equipment, toys, techniques, or just fun things relevant to quilting. You can go to my blog to learn more about what I'm doing right at the moment and items I think are exciting!
I support American Hero Quilts and local charity quilt organizations. I am a member of the American Quilter's Society, the International Machine Quilter's Organization, and participate in many online quilting groups. I also teach longarm quilting fundamentals locally -- I can provide a custom class for you, or coordinate through my preferred sewing machine dealer, Sew-Vac of Boulder. Let me know what your needs are!
